LGBA Delegates
LGBA Delegates….what does it mean to participate?
Each year at the LGBA Annual Conference, we hold an Assembly of Delegates meeting. At this meeting each Full-Member Band is represented by two Delegates, and Bands in Formation are represented by one Delegate. Each Delegate has the power of one vote.
The Assembly of Delegates is a business meeting for LGBA. This is where we vote on any changes to the by-laws or procedures. We also vote in new bands, assuring that they have met the membership requirements. Delegates have voted recently on issues such as the amount of annual dues to be paid, or the location of the next LGBA conference. The Assembly of Delegates is also the group who votes in the LGBA Board of Directors election each year.
As a Delegate, you need to attend the annual LGBA Conference. At that event you will have the opportunity to attend a number of workshops to help you better run your band. Topics often include dealing with diversity, band leadership, fund raising, and other issues pertinent to growing your band. You will also attend two business meetings, usually about 3 hours in length. You will have an opportunity to report about your band, and gather ideas from others. After the conference, you will fill your band in on what you learned. |

Consider being a Delegate at the next conference, or at least make sure your band is represented.
The more Delegates we have, the more sure we are that LGBA is working on your behalf.
