President's Message
Welcome to the LGBA Website! Whether this is your first visit or your hundredth visit, I hope you’ll enjoy the information on these pages.
We’re proud to be entering our 25th year with vigor and excitement and I would like to take this opportunity to let you know what your Board of Directors will be focusing on in the coming months.
We have revived, renamed and created committees which will be doing the bulk of the work this year. Those Committees include: Administrative, Outreach, Member Services, Fundraising, Long Range Planning, Scholarship, Conference / Meeting, Special Events. We are generating rosters, missions and goals for each of these groups and will be keeping you posted on their progress. If you have an interest in serving on any of these Committees, please contact me directly at: president@mylgba.com as soon as possible and I will get you in touch with the Committee Chairs.

Here are some details about what’s happened so far:
The Special Events Committee already has work to do as I am excited to announce our first Regional Event of 2008 is already in the works and will be a concert in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 28-30, 2008! In addition, work is being done to prepare us for our participation in Gay Games VIII in Cologne, Germany.
The Conference/Meeting Committee is beginning work on our Board Mid-Year Meeting, which will be held in Portland, Oregon on May 2-4, 2008.
The Scholarship Committee already has funding for two scholarships for our 2008 Conference in New York City and will be developing application and award criteria, as well as pursuing funds for additional scholarships.
Our Outreach Committee is looking for opportunities for a Massed Band Invasion in 2008 and may be pursuing the Pride Parade in Jacksonville, Florida in July.
The Administrative Committee has completed work on our newly approved Bylaws and is working on additional documents, including a Membership Requirements Procedure, which will help define the different types of memberships available within LGBA.
I hope you’re as excited as I am about the work described above. Please visit us again soon to stay up to date on what’s new and exciting in LGBA!
